Mobility & Infrastructure Committee Memorandum
TO: MOBILITY & INFRASTRUCTURE COMMITTEE DATE: MAY 14, 2026 FROM: PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT WARDS: ALL SUBJECT: APPROVE PROPOSED TRANSPORTATION BOARD 2026 WORKPLAN ISSUE:
Review and approval of the Transportation Board’s 2026 Workplan.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the Mobility & Infrastructure Committee review and provide recommendations to the City Council regarding the Transportation Boards 2026 Workplan.
BOARD RECOMMENDATION:
On March 4, 2026, the Transportation Board reviewed a draft work plan. Five members of the Transportation Board were present. The Board voted unanimously to approve the Board’s 2026 Work Plan.
BACKGROUND:
The Transportation Board was tasked with developing a work plan outlining the objectives of the board for the year 2026 and ensuring its alignment with the City Charter. Each workplan will be taken to the respective City Council Standing Committee for review and approval with the workplans earmarked to begin in March 2026 and conclude in February 2027.
DISCUSSION:
The Transportation Board was created to act in an advisory capacity to the City Council in matters pertaining to on-street and off-street parking concerns, regulation of traffic on city streets, review of traffic construction projects, review of proposed amendment to the Circulation and Community Mobility Element of the General Plan, annual review of the traffic signal synchronization master plan, neighborhood traffic calming alternatives, review of speed limits, and traffic operations and circulation matters. This is done by reviewing agenda items, listening to public input during meetings, asking city staff additional questions, and voting to provide a recommended action to City Council.
To assist the Transportation Board in meeting the objectives set forth by the City Council, a work plan has been developed to identify goals to be accomplished by the Board between March 2026 through February 2027. Draft work plans for all boards and commissions will be presented to the appropriate City Council Standing Committee(s) for feedback and direction. All Board actions and goals set forth in the final 2026 work plan will be included in the 2026 Transportation Board Annual Performance Report.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact associated with this report.
