Nonfarm payrolls advanced by172,000, well above the consensus estimate for an 88,000-gain, while unemployment held at 4.3% for the fourth time in the last fivemonths. Revisions reinforced the strength, as March moved up from 178,000 to 214,000, and April rose from 115,000 to 179,000. Leisureand hospitality led the gains, joined by local government and health care, while financial activities shed positions.Source: US Department of Labor Source: US Department of LaborEMPLOYMENT 7/28/2026
3 Source: Bloomberg Indices Source: Bloomberg IndicesENERGY MARKETSFuel costs eased through the period even as the Middle East war kept a risk premium embedded in crude markets. West Texas Intermediatefinished at $96.02 a barrel at the June 3 settlement, then retreated into the low $90s by the as-of date as traders weighed diplomaticprogress against the near closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Brent traded near the low $90s, more than 45% above a year earlier. The AAAnational average for regular gasoline stood at $4.241 on June 5, down 18 cents over the week and a second consecutive weekly decline, though well above the $3.144 average a year ago. Diesel held near $5.60. Crude inventories fell 8 million barrels to 433.7 million, roughly3% below the five-year average, a tightness that should temper any pronounced retreat in fuel costs.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 0.6% month over month, lifting theheadline year-over-year rate to 3.8%, the fastest pace since May 2023 and well above March’s 3.3% reading. Core CPI increased 0.4% onthe month and 2.8% year over year. The Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) price index also remained firm in April, rising 0.4%month over month and 3.8% year over year, while the core measure increased 0.2% on the month and 3.3% from a year earlier. Energyremains the primary driver of inflation, with the CPI energy component up 17.9% over the past twelve months and gasoline up 28.4%. Goodsinflation has reaccelerated amid tariff pressures and higher oil prices, while services inflation has moderated. Overall, the breadth of priceincreases makes the policy outlook more complicated.Source: US Department of Labor Source: US Department of CommerceINFLATION 7/28/2026

Interest rate risk: the value of fixed income investments will decline as interest rates rise. Credit risk: thepossibility that the borrower may not be able to repay interest and principal. Low rated bonds generally have to pay higher interest rates to attract investors willing to take ongreater risk. Market risk: the bond market in general could decline due to economic conditions, especially during periods of rising interest rates.Ratings information have been provided by Moody’s, S&P and Fitch through data feeds we believe to be reliable as of the date of this statement, however we cannot guarantee its accuracy.Security level ratings for U.S. Agency issued mortgage-backed securities (“MBS”)reflect the issuer rating becausethe securities themselves are not rated.
