Dear Rocklin City Council,
I am writing in support of saving Clover Valley, which is one of the last remaining intact area of oak woodland in our area. As an almost 30 year Rocklin resident, my quality of life and the qualify of life of our community is enhanced by preserving local natural ecosystems. It is imperative that we balance human growth with supporting the natural environment. Healthy environments support healthy humans.

Please do all you can to increase your already generous donation. I am also donating to a Go Fund Me through the Placer Land Trust to help with the purchase of Clover Valley to demonstrate my commitment to this project.

Sincerely,
Janet Gonzales

Subject: We Must SAVE Clover Valley!
Date: Friday, February 7, 2025 6:11:22 PM
Dear Placer County Board of Supervisors,
I have been a resident of Placer County for nearly thirty years, and few issues are as important to me for the quality of life in this county than saving Clover Valley. Clover Valley is habitat for much wildlife, including the threatened California Black Rail, and the valley is also home to historic Native American sites. Furthermore, this valley is one of the last intact sections of oak woodlands in western Placer -- woodlands that are rapidly disappearing due to development.

According to the research report
Oaks 2040: The Status and Future of Oaks in California, our Sacramento region "is more at risk for development than any other" and "more than half of the oak woodlands in Nevada, Yuba, and Placer counties may be developed" by 2040. This is due to "more than 80 percent of the Sacramento region’s oak woodland [being] privately owned."

Clover Valley is in direct danger of becoming one of those privately-held woodlands that is lost forever through development. Clover Valley will revert back to the seller (developer) if Placer Land Trust doesn't raise $2.3 million by mid-March 2025.

I am humbly asking that the Placer County Board consider donating $2.3 million to help complete the sale and protect Clover Valley with a conservation easement forever. As a longtime resident of Placer County, saving Clover Valley is extremely important to me and many other residents. I have enjoyed the beauty of this valley passing through Sierra College Blvd many times over the years. I have watched with horror as development after development have overtaken oak woodlands surrounding this valley. This valley is now the last stand -- lose it, and there will be nothing left to save in Rocklin.

I am extremely worried that we will lose Clover Valley forever, which is why I implore each of you to do whatever is in your power to save this crown jewel of western Placer County.

Most sincerely,
Rowena Yeseta
