What Are Fire Hazard Severity Zones?
FHSZs are designations established by Cal Fire’s
Office of the State Fire Marshal to identify the
likelihood of wildfires occurring and spreading
in a given area. These zones are based on
factors like fuel, slope, and weather, and they
fall into four categories:
• No Hazard
• Moderate
• High
• Very High
