SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING
AUGUST 20, 2024
1. CALL MEETING TO ORDER
City Clerk Pettit called the meeting to order at 5:02 pm.
3. ROLL CALL
City Council Members Present: Brown Schachter, Huff, Zerunyan City Council Members Absent: Schmitz, Stegura
In the absence of the Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem and by a majority consensus, the present Council Members selected COUNCIL MEMBER HUFF to preside over the meeting.
2. SALUTE TO THE FLAG
Led by COUNCIL MEMBER HUFF.
4. NEW BUSINESS
A. NOVEMBER 5, 2024 GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION
Recommendation: That the City Council adopt Resolution No. 2586 canceling the November 5, 2024 election and appointing Velveth Schmitz, Debby Stegura and Frank Zerunyan each to four-year terms of office as Council Members.
City Clerk Pettit provided a staff report (as per the agenda material).
City Clerk Pettit explained that those appointed tonight would still be considered “elected,” in response to COUNCIL MEMBER HUFF.
COUNCIL MEMBER SCHACHTER moved, seconded by COUNCIL MEMBER
ZERUNYAN, TO APPROVE AS FOLLOWS BY THE FOLLOWING ROLL CALL VOTE:
ADOPT RESOLUTION NO. 2586 CANCELING THE NOVEMBER 5, 2024
ELECTION AND APPOINTING VELVETH SCHMITZ, DEBBY STEGURA AND
FRANK ZERUNYAN EACH TO FOUR-YEAR TERMS OF OFFICE AS
COUNCIL MEMBERS.
AYES: Brown Schachter, Huff, Zerunyan
ABSENT: Schmitz, Stegura
5. ADJOURNMENT
At 5:06 pm COUNCIL MEMBER HUFF adjourned the City Council meeting to the regular City Council meeting on September 10, 2024 at 7:00 p.m.
