Please state the reason(s) you would like to serve on this legislative body.
I believe I can add value to the board’s work as the stewards of the City’s retirement plans. Having worked for a self- funded, State agency for more than 17 years, I have first- hand experience balancing the competing objectives of
public policy and fiscal responsibility.
As the Director of Financing at California Housing Finance Agency, I formulated and executed strategies to reduce
financial leverage and complexity. During my tenure, the Agency received 12 credit ratings upgrades.
As the Director of Single Family Programs at CalHFA, I led the Agency to record-breaking production numbers: $2.7 billion in 2018 and $4.2 billion in 2019.
I have extensive experience leading efforts to formulate new programs and policies and procedures. And perhaps more
importantly, to streamline policies and procedures to make existing programs work more effectively and efficiently.
I have extensive experience managing investments, bonds and financial advisers within the confines of policy guidelines.
Please list all of your professional experience directly related to the seat you are applying for.
Government-sponsored pension plans are important
employment benefits that attract and retain well-qualified public employees. Many public pension plans have made
modifications to help ensure their long-term sustainability.
Any modification, however, should be carefully considered to balance the competing objectives of the stakeholders and to avoid unintended consequences or costs.
As a committed public servant of the State of California, I have experiences in balancing the competing policy and
financial objectives of a self-funded, multibillion-dollar state agency, in spearheading strategies to adapt to changing market conditions, and in promoting a risk intelligent
organization. I have earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and the Financial Risk Manager (FRM)
designation.
I believe I have the work experiences and financial expertise to help the Board promote a sound and sustainable pension plan design.
Please list any training or education directly related to the seat you are applying for.
I have been a CFA charterholder since 2007, and a FRM
charterholder since 2008.
Please list any additional experience, community
activities, volunteering experience, or other
qualifications that would be helpful in evaluating your Contact Information

application.
I served for 7 years on the board of California Mortgage Assistance Corporation, which provided $2.2 billion of
assistance to help homeowners avoid foreclosures.
Currently, I serve as the President of the Corporation.
