As a member of the League of Women Voters-Sacramento County, I underscore the League's support of SCPRC recommendations before you. According to the 2019 Sacramento Community Survey, about 75% of Black residents say they are not confident officers treat all groups equally. Among Whites, 64% are very or somewhat confident, and 36% are not confident in equal treatment. Hispanic and other race residents reported similar levels of confidence. It is clear that cultivating public safety authorities that protect and serve all members of the public must be our collective goal. Supporting SCPRC is one of many approaches to such accomplishment. Adequate staffing, regular review with SPD, and access to independent resources are essential to SCPRC efforts that encourage community engagement, lessen distrust, and invigorate transparency. Thank you for your consideration
