We have had so many problems with the homeless encampment on colfax. I run a childcare / preschool and it is unsafe for the children here. March 15th there was AGAIN another incident of one of a homeless man being jumped in front of my house by 10 other homeless men from the camp and they left him out in the street to be hit by cars. There was a police report made on this incident. I cannot have parents escorting their children to their cars with kids, with this kind of behavior happening from the people at the homeless camp. My neighbor a few doors down is now being sued for protecting himself against a homeless person from that camp that kept harassing him at his door and he sprayed her with pepper spray to protect himself and now he is being charged with a felony. How are we suppose to protect our families? Let alone these kids in my childcare? I have had a few incidents of homeless men coming up to my house and not leaving. If this continues I will sue. I have children to protect.

The truth about K Street Shooting on early Sunday morning, April 3rd. The news doesn't want to talk about it, the Mayor and city council don't want to acknowledge, but the public knows: it was gang violence and illegal guns.

No amount of gun laws will stop a criminal from getting guns. No amount of $$ in youth programs will change hardened adult criminals who made the choice to shoot up rival gangs and random innocent bystanders. We need more law enforcement and real legislation to incarcerate criminals. Y ou can cry and blame someone's sad past, but when they choose to get an illegal gun and shoot people - these sympathetic displays mean nothing.

Please support public safety, support law enforcement and common-sense district attorneys. They deal with the victims and the fallout from these violent shootings daily. THEY are the experts in how this can be solved. Listen to them and stop catering to gang-associated advocates who just want your money and compliance.

I want to echo Matthew Kessing's comment about keeping the outdoor seating. I believe it would greatly improve many areas of downtown and midtown, as well as other areas outside of there. To not only keep the existing outdoor dinning but commit to pedestrianizing more streets. Starting with simple street closures but eventually moving up to actual infrastructure. There are so many great streets where cars do not need to be and could be used for not just outdoor seating but also more trees and green space, permanent/semi permanent food trucks/carts. Open air markets that go more than once a week. Or just giving people a quieter and safer place to exist in the city. An easy place to start is to remove cars from all of k street downtown and turning it back into a transit/pedestrian mall.

This should be a key part of the climate/transit plans being worked on right now Matthew Kessing

Looking back on the last two years, I think it is universally agreed upon that the pandemic sucked. In most aspects of our daily lives, the pandemic wasn't a good time, and with the exception of one thing, I think we're all happy to see it go. That one bright spot of the pandemic? Outdoor dining. The climate in Sacramento is fantastic for eating outdoors. Throw up some shade and even on the hottest days of the year, Sacramento is pleasant during all but hottest hours of the day. So what are we doing dismantling the outdoor plazas that helped let more people enjoy the beautiful weather and wonderful restaurants this City has to offer? I very, very strongly encourage the Council to find a way to make more of these plazas permanent.
