Good morning:

I bring to you a serious concern brought forth by my partner in relation to services included in your city budget for the homeless. In addition, I bring to you concerns relating to lack of diversity in the city of Sacramento in all areas.

My partner was informed by a gentleman on your city homeless outreach team that mental health therapists have been removed from the plan. The African American licensed therapist we’ve met with numerous times has been removed.

We need answers!
You were previously warned by the community how your words fail to align with action. Why have we done away with what we have so little of? African American outreach support that have been deemed abundantly effective for those they serve? Your initial reports indicated you were hiring over 40 clinical staff. How has that been secretly removed? Where are those funds being reallocated to? You speak daily about the drought of minorities in positions yet you are removing them?
We are equally concerned the budget we supported lacks transparency not only for the 20 general homeless sites but the services promised to your constituents.

We desperately need services. Why are you removing them? Why are you removing the mental health specialty of all things in the homeless arena? The Greater Sacramento NAACP and Council for Community of Color are also working on this. The NAACP will address City Council with concerns that diversity in your city government is woefully lacking. Diversity should be built into the city values. We are concern and you should be too. This will not go away. We are here to see our community gets what they deserve and what was promised.

We need answers,
Barbara Moon on behalf of concerned constituents

Adding to the previous email concern:

I am including pictures I located on your social media pages as well as articles referencing your own concern for mental health among homelessness, your own identification for the need of mental health workers and your own identified need for community workers of color.

Again, we demand to know why you cancelled the mental health workers contracts and why you cancelled your ONLY African American licensed clinical staff. There’s such a desperation for mental health and outreach for black and brown folks. Why did you cut your only one? She is in the picture with the dog. I covered her face for her privacy. The only other two African American workers on your entire homeless outreach team are circled. The rest of the African Americans are receiving help from your Caucasian and few Indian Mexican staff. We need answers! See attachments for reference.
