Please state the reason(s) you would like to serve on this legislative body.

Documenting, preserving, and recognizing Sacramento’s
cultural resources is important. Equally important is an open and transparent public process for such activities. I’m interested in joining the Preservation Commission to share my enthusiasm for preserving Sacramento’s important
places. I would also like to give back to my community, and based on my personal experiences and expertise, this would be a way I could make a good contribution.

Please list all of your professional experience directly related to the seat you are applying for.

I have worked as an architectural historian/historian for 19 years in the cultural resources management and historic preservation planning fields. I have inventoried and
evaluated a variety of individual properties and districts for their potential eligibility for the National Register of Historic Places, California Register of Historical Resources, and the Sacramento Register of Historical and Cultural Resources. I have completed projects in compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, NEPA, and CEQA. My professional experience includes working at environmental and engineering consulting firms and the California Office of Historic Preservation where I was part of the staff to the State Historical Resources Commission and reviewed
nominations for the four registration programs for the
adequacy and compliance with the registration programs’ guidelines for submittal. While at the Office of Historic Preservation, I also reviewed the Evaluation of Significance of the Historic Preservation Certification Applications (Part 1s) as part of the federal historic preservation tax incentive program.

My work in Sacramento includes:
• Lead architectural historian for the City of Sacramento’s Mid-Century Survey and Context Statement where I focused on research, preparing the historic context centered on local history, Sacramento modernist architects/builders,
conducted intensive level surveys, and prepared 3 of the evaluations
• Lead architectural historian for the historic Substation A Rebuild and Relocation project
• Lead architectural historian for the Jesse Unruh Roof Replacement Project
• Lead historian for various SMUD projects
• Lead historian for the Old Sacramento State Historic Park General Development Plan and Environmental Impact
Report
• Lead historian for various Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency projects
• Lead architectural historian for various CEQA projects in Sacramento and Davis
