Today, the temperature is forecasted to reach 115°F , again. It will be 100°F by 11 AM and won't drop below 100°F again until after 7PM. How many city pools are open? The City needs to create emergency pool hours to give people a place to go to cool off. It is unacceptable that pools are being closed for the season in the midst of a historic heat wave. Please fund and open our pools.

Re: Sign and support the Initiative Resolution at the Cal Cities conference.
Please sign and support the Initiative Resolution (below) at the Cal Cities conference this Friday, September 9, 2022!
Y ou, (not the city of Sacramento) are 'ONL Y' voting on; "If the League of California Cities should support the Initiative Resolution."
"It is consistent with the League's own prior resolution." ~In 2018, the League of California Cities unanimously passed a similar resolution supporting the preparation of a ballot measure or constitutional amendment that would preserve the role of local democracy for California cities.~ A resolution will be brought to vote at the Friday General Assembly meeting in Long Beach titled 'Resolution of the League of California Cities to Support a Ballot Measure to Strengthen Local Planning Authority In Furtherance of the League of California Cities' Mission: "To expand and protect local control for cities through education and advocacy to enhance the quality of life for all Californians".
As our cities Voting Delegate, we would like you to vote for adopting this resolution as it is consistent with our own city's longstanding history and legislative policies of furthering local planning authority. As the City of Sacramento's voting delegate, please sign in support of the resolution.
We support this resolution because limiting or removing local voices should never be the answer. Democracy instead is the solution. What the state legislature has done and will continue to do is take away the democratic process of people participating and voting to shape their own communities. We don't need to silence people to collaborate on shared goals - we need to empower them and work together. We look forward to the day when the state looks to cities and the people as their partners and not their adversaries. This resolution will bring us the ability to create the collaborations necessary to achieve our shared goals.
Please vote YES on the Resolution at the General Assembly on Friday Sincerely,
Barry F . Boyd
Supporter of a Free Democratic Process
