Recommendation: 1) Conduct interviews of applicants to the Ann Land and Bertha Henschel Memorial Funds Commission for Seats D and G: a member appointed in the manner provided by the Charter of the City of Sacramento for the appointment of members of City boards, commissions, and agencies; 2) discuss candidates eligibility; and 3) recommend appointment to Mayor and Council unless additional discussion in a subsequent meeting is needed.

Issue Detail: Prior to forwarding nominations to the Mayor for appointment, the Personnel and Public Employees Committee conducts interviews of applicants for open board and commission positions.
Policy Considerations: Members are appointed in the manner provided by the Charter of the City of Sacramento for the appointment of members of City boards, commissions, and agencies.

Rationale for Recommendation: When a position on a City board or commission becomes available through term expiration or resignation, the Office of the City Clerk conducts a recruitment for interested parties. When the application period has closed, the Personnel and Public Employees Committee conducts interviews of the applicants and forwards nominations to the Mayor for appointment. The appointment is then confirmed by the whole council.

I want to give back to the community and I desire to serve the City of Sacramento as part of a board or commission. The Ann Land and Bertha Henschel Memorial Funds Commission is
something that I have been aware of for the past several years and I think that I could be a positive and informed contributor to this legislative body as a board member. I greatly appreciate the work that is done through this grant and would like to assist the body in the administration, disbursement, management and reporting of the grant

Capital Area Youth T ennis Organization (CAYTO) which was formed to teach tennis and life-skills to underserved areas in Sacramento, and
Xeroderma Pigmentosum (XP) Family Support Group - a non- profit formed to help families with children born with this rare genetic condition to find support, and a cure for the condition.
