Issue Detail: Prior to forwarding nominations to the Mayor for appointment, the Personnel and Public Employees Committee conducts interviews of applicants for open board and commission positions.
Policy Considerations: Members are appointed in the manner provided by the Charter of the City of Sacramento for the appointment of members of City boards, commissions, and agencies.

Rationale for Recommendation: When a position on a City board or commission becomes available through term expiration or resignation, the Office of the City Clerk conducts a recruitment for interested parties. When the application period has closed, the Personnel and Public Employees Committee conducts interviews of the applicants and forwards nominations to the Mayor for appointment. The appointment is then confirmed by the whole council.

As a young and experienced public servant, I am dedicated to improving the civil service of every government jurisdiction- especially the jurisdiction in which I reside. Legislative ideas proposed by our City Council will only be as good as the civil service employees whom are charged with implementing all operations. T o that end, we must have a stable, competitive, and well-structured civil service classification and pay plan.
We must ensure that people are appointed to civil service positions based on merit, and that all disciplinary action is based on position-related duties. By ensuring a strong civil service, we ensure a strong City of Sacramento.

I am currently the Executive Manager for the Director’s Office at Caltrans. I am responsible for navigating complex, sensitive situations, including those of confidential personnel
management. My current experience and State Civil Service human resources background directly apply to the duties of a member of the City Civil Service Board. I was formerly a manager and lead analyst in the Director’s Office at the
Department of Managed Health Care, a human resources
analyst at the Office of the State Labor Secretary, and a human resources student assistant at the Secretary of State’s.
I am well-versed and experienced in civil service
administrative law and procedures, labor relations,

examination and appointment, and more. On occasion, I have been prepared to testify before hearings of the State
