Issue Detail:
Council approved the FY2024/25 Operating Budget (Approved Budget) on June 11, 2024 (File No. 2024-00826). The Approved Budget included the implementation of strategies to improve parking management and ensure efficient use of resources by extending on-street parking meters hours of operation to legal holidays effective July 1, 2024. In addition, implementation of the Approved Budget requires rescission of Council, Resolution 1996-0612 establishing the On-Street Holiday Parking Program. The attached resolution implements these changes included in the Approved Budget (Attachment 2).
Section 10.40.070 of the Sacramento City Code authorizes the parking manager to charge for parking on Sundays and legal holidays after conducting parking surveys. Section 10.36.100 authorizes parking for limited times when authorized signs have been placed giving notice of the

days and times that time limited parking applies. Section 10.36.100 authorizes placement of appropriate signage by resolution for limited timed parking. The parking manager has conducted the required parking surveys to operate parking meters and pay stations on Sundays and legal holidays.
Beginning July 1, 2024, the parking manager will begin operating parking meters and pay stations on Sundays and legal holidays.
These changes will help to regulate parking demand, promote turnover of parking spaces, alleviate congestion, and incentivize the adoption of alternative transportation methods and enhance overall efficiency of the City’s on-street parking system.
