APPROVING CONTRACT AWARD AND FUND TRANSFER FOR THE
RENFREE FIELD REOVATIONS AT DEL PASO PARK PROJECT OF
CITYWIDE PARK IMPROVEMENTS (L19300000)
BACKGROUND
A. Del Paso Park is a 624.4-acre regional park located at 3365 Auburn Blvd. (Council District 2).
B. The Department of Youth, Parks, & Community Enrichment is seeking approval to renovate Renfree Field at Del Paso Park. The project consists of 8.3 acres of renovation which includes reconstructing the existing parking lot, a baseball field and practice baseball field, with an overlaid soccer field, a full basketball court, and four pickleball courts. The work will include demolition, clearing and grubbing, tree removal, site grading and drainage, concrete flatwork, curbs, mow strips, aggregate base, asphalt paving, cobbles, painted striping, baseball backstops, chain link fencing, foul poles, basketball and pickleball equipment, automatic irrigation system, irrigation well pump, booster pump and central control system, irrigation audit, landscaping, trees, turf and native hydroseeding, plant maintenance period, site electrical, drinking fountains, rules signs, park entry sign, site furniture, and electrical conduit and pull boxes for future parking lot and pathway lighting.
C. The Renfree Field Renovation at Del Paso Park Renfree Field Renovation at Del Paso Park Renfree Field Renovation at Del Paso Park Project is expected to be completed in summer 2025.
D. Additional funding is necessary to cover the construction and staff costs for the project.
BASED ON THE FACTS SET FORTH IN THE BACKGROUND, THE CITY COUNCIL RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. A Mitigated Negative Declaration (MND) and Mitigation Monitoring Plan for the Harry Renfree Field Renovations Project at Del Paso Park was adopted on February 13, 2024.
Section 2. The construction plans and specifications for the Renfree Field Renovation at Del Paso Park Project (L19300000) are hereby approved.
Section 2. The contract for the Renfree Field Renovation at Del Paso Park Project is awarded to Olympic Land Development, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $3,060,825.
Section 3. The City Manager or the City Manager’s designee is authorized to execute the contract.
Section 4. The City Manager or the City Manager’s designee is authorized to transfer $235,000 (Measure U Fund, Fund 2401) from the Measure U Park Improvements Program (L19706000) to the Citywide Park Improvement Program (L19300000).
Section 5. The City Manager or the City Manager’s designee is authorized to transfer $140,000 from the available fund balance of the Park Impact Fee Fund (Fund 3204) to the Citywide Park Improvement Program (L19300000).
