Recommendation: 1) Conduct interviews of applicants to Capitol Area Development Authority Governing Board for Seat A: a member appointed in the manner provided by the Charter of the City of Sacramento for the appointment of members of City boards, commissions, and agencies; 2) discuss candidates eligibility; and 3) recommend appointment to Mayor and Council unless additional discussion in a subsequent meeting is needed.

Issue Detail: Prior to forwarding nominations to the Mayor for appointment, the Personnel and Public Employees Committee conducts interviews of applicants for open board and commission positions.
Policy Considerations: Members are appointed in the manner provided by the Charter of the City of Sacramento for the appointment of members of City boards, commissions, and agencies.

Rationale for Recommendation: When a position on a City board or commission becomes available through term expiration or resignation, the Office of the City Clerk conducts a recruitment for interested parties. When the application period has closed, the Personnel and Public Employees Committee conducts interviews of the applicants and forwards nominations to the Mayor for appointment. The appointment is then confirmed by the whole council.

I have served on the CADA board for the most recent term and am very proud of the work this organization has done. We have successfully brought several developments to market, offering new units and new commercial space that continue to enhance the vibrancy of the urban core. We have remained stable as an organization with an executive transition and continued to welcome new talent and perspective onto the board. We have continued to invest in a strong organizational culture for employee satisfaction and retention. We have remained financially strong and mission focused.

I have 25 years of experience in public space management, nonprofit leadership, and 12 years of experience in leadership in Sacramento. I currently serve as the Executive Director of the Midtown Association, Midtown Parks, and within that oversee 110 blocks of Midtown's commercial core. Prior to that, I was the CEO of the Downtown Stockton Alliance
providing similar services.
