I am applying to serve on the Sacramento Housing and
Redevelopment Commission. I believe that everyone
deserves a safe, accessible, and affordable place to live.

That is the work that SHRA does every day to serve low- income residents in Sacramento. In my role as the
Executive Director of the Sacramento Housing Alliance, I advocate for production and preservation of affordable
housing for low-income individuals and families, and those who are experiencing homelessness in Sacramento and
throughout the Greater Sacramento region. Through public- private partnerships, the nonprofit affordable developers and advocates I represent are delivering thousands of new affordable homes in Sacramento. The City of Sacramento
and SHRA are key partners in this work, dedicating millions of dollars of funding to projects, as well as implementing policies that make it easier to build affordable housing for our neighbors. Now more than ever, it’s critical that we come together—advocates, neighbors, and residents—to
ensure that every person has access to an affordable home.

The housing crisis demands bold solutions and collective action that matches the scale of the challenge. I want to serve on the Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment
Commission to advance this mission and make a
meaningful difference for Sacramento residents.

running a community LGBTQ Center and health clinic,
supporting low-income youth, seniors, people living with HIV/AIDS, and individuals and families seeking housing, counseling and case management services; I previously
served as Development Director of the Rainbow Community Center of Contra Costa County from August 2016-November 2018, supporting low-income youth, seniors, people living with HIV/AIDS, and individuals and families seeking housing, counseling and case management services.

My professional experience supporting low-income
individuals and families with housing and social services has prepared me with an understanding of the policy and regulatory landscape that impacts affordable housing and homelessness policies and funding at the city, county,
regional, state, and federal levels. In my role as Executive Director of the Sacramento Housing Alliance, I work to
advocate for policies and funding that advance affordable housing, permanent supportive housing, and support and
services for low-income residents at every level of
government, bringing together stakeholders to cultivate partnerships that deliver results for our neighbors. In addition to my day job, I volunteer with and support
multiple nonprofits and community organizations across the Greater Sacramento region. I want to continue my
community-driven work as a volunteer on the Housing and Redevelopment Commission.

I am hoping to serve on the Sacramento Housing and
Redevelopment Commission because affordable housing is
not just my profession, it is my passion. For the past six years, I have dedicated my career to advancing affordable housing solutions through planning, policy, financing, and advocacy. I believe deeply in the transformative power of this work and its ability to create better and more resilient communities for all. Serving on this Commission represents an opportunity for me to give back to Sacramento in a
meaningful, direct way. I want to contribute my skills, knowledge, and technical expertise to support equitable housing and community development outcomes locally. I
view this as a chance to ensure public resources are used effectively and responsibly, to help ensure the sustainability and resiliency of SHRA, and to help shape a Sacramento
where all residents, regardless of income or background, have access to safe, affordable, and thriving communities.

Without getting too personal, affordable housing is a
personal issue for me and something that, regardless of position, will get my time and attention. This board and position offers an opportunity for me to be of service and to be of highest and best use to the people of the City and County and the residents of SHRA.

I bring a strong academic and professional foundation in planning, public administration, and affordable housing to the Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Commission. I
hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Geography and Planning with a minor in Public Administration, as well as a Master’s Degree in Community Planning. My professional experience spans across local government, consulting, and advocacy, with a focus on affordable housing, community development, and
equitable investment. I began my career with the City of Austin’s Economic Development Department, where I was
responsible for preparing written reports and presentations for commissions and governing bodies—an experience
directly aligned with the work of this Commission. From there, I worked in the private sector in energy and land development. In 2017, I joined the Peace Corps and served as an Urban Planning Volunteer, focusing on public and
grant administration and GIS at a rural government office in Albania for 27 months. Since 2019, my work has been
centered on affordable housing. I spent three years at a consulting firm specializing in Low-Income Housing T ax
Credit (LIHTC) and other affordable housing developments.

In addition to my professional background, I have actively participated in community-based planning and revitalization efforts. I have been involved in both the Morrison Creek Revitalization Study and the Fruitridge Improvement Project, where I played a grassroots role by ensuring that neighbors and roommates were informed and able to attend
workshops and events. These efforts reflect my
commitment to equitable and inclusive community
engagement. Earlier in my career, I interned at Working in Neighborhoods, where I led the Beekman Corridor data
initiative. This was a multi-jurisdictional project involving several neighborhoods and local governments, requiring
strong coordination and strategic communication across
diverse stakeholder groups. That experience, along with my time in the Peace Corps and my work in affordable housing, has given me a unique ability to translate complex
technical information—whether financial or planning-related —into accessible, actionable insights. I am skilled at helping groups with differing priorities find common ground and
move forward collaboratively. My combined experience in community engagement, cross-sector collaboration, and
technical planning and financing equips me to contribute meaningfully to the Sacramento Housing and
Redevelopment Commission's mission of fostering equitable development and inclusive public participation. I have
interned at Working in Neighborhoods, where I led the
Beekman Corridor's data initiative. This project was a multi- jurisdictional project, as Beekman connected several
neighborhoods and jurisdictions. Because of this, my Peace Corps experience, and my work in affordable housing, I
have experience taking technical information (planning
and/or financial) and assisting competing groups reach
consensus.
