Description/Analysis
Issue Detail: The City Attorney’s Office (CAO) is seeking Council approval to supplement the current legal services agreement with the Shaw Law Group, in an amount not to exceed $114,910.00 for expenses associated with investigatory services on two claims of discrimination. This amendment is necessary because the investigation required additional workup beyond that originally anticipated.
The CAO maintains a pre-approved list of qualified outside counsel available to assist with investigation matters. Shaw Law Group was selected as the most qualified firm to perform these investigations.
It is recommended that the Council authorize the City Attorney amend the contract for legal services with Shaw Law Group for a new amount not to exceed $114,910.00.
Policy Considerations: This funding is required to ensure the completion of the City’s investigation into claims of discrimination.
