Issue Detail: Prior to forwarding nominations to the Mayor and Council for confirmation of appointment, the Personnel and Public Employees Committee conducts interviews of applicants for open board and commission positions.
Policy Considerations: Members are appointed in the manner provided by the Charter of the City of Sacramento for the appointment of members of City boards, commissions, and agencies.

When the application period has closed, the Personnel and Public Employees Committee conducts interviews of the applicants and forwards nominations to the Mayor for appointment. The appointment is then confirmed by the whole council.

I'd like to serve on the Parks and Community Enrichment Commission because I believe that Sacramento parks are a foundational part of our community that need to maintained and supported with the help of a youth voice. Parks are a place in Sacramento where people can come together , immerse
themselves in nature, and have fun. As a kid, I would go to the parks around me almost everyday, whether it was for soccer , tennis, or the playground. Now that I'm a teenager , I still see families using the parks everyday and I'd love to help play a role in keeping them an essential part of Sacramento life. As the youth member of the Parks and Community Enrichment
Commission, I will address concerns and suggestions from the community about the parks and advocate for community based initiatives such as park cleanups and tree plantings. Since, I am currently a volunteer for Lisa Kaplan’s OneYouth Organization, help beautify parks and execute community events on a regular basis. As a commissioner , I’d be fully committed to helping both individuals and community groups engage in maintaining and improving the parks as well. The opportunity to serve would allow me to contribute to keeping Sacramento parks a safe place for enrichment activities for all Sacramento residents.

In 2024, I completed the Summer @ City Hall internship and presented a proposal to the Sacramento City Council Members encouraging more advocacy of the importance of youth after- school enrichment activities and continued funding to those city programs. In 2025, I was a mentor for the Summer @ City Hall Internship program and led a group in creating a project proposal focused on decreasing youth isolation to the
Sacramento City Hall Council Members. I am currently a Teen Advisory Board Member for the North Natomas Public Library.
My role is to create library outreach opportunities and plan events that help bring more teens into the library. I am also a Student Board Member for the NP3 Charter School Governing Board. I facilitate parent and community engagement with the NP3 High School and provide input on monthly meeting agenda items.

I completed Leadership Training for the Summer @ City Hall Peer Mentor Position in 2025 prior to my employment in the program. I am a member of my schools National Honor Society. For the past three years, I've been a Key Club Member and Volunteer . In 2025, I was a Recipient of the National Recognition Program Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement. Since 2023, I've been a member of NP3 Mock Trial team and we won 2nd place in
County two years in a row. For more than two years, I've been a Lisa Kaplan OneYouth Volunteer and supported many
community events (90 hours of volunteering). In May 2023, I received the Frank Withrow Award for Outstanding
Performance. From 2021 to 2023, I was a Angelique Ashby Youth Action Corp Volunteer and had 50 hours of volunteering.
