1-Description/Analysis
2-LSA - Supplement 3 Investigatory Services re Two Claims of Discrimination Description/Analysis
Issue Detail: The City Attorney’s Office (CAO) maintains a pre-approved list of qualified outside counsel available to assist with investigation matters. Shaw Law Group was selected as the most qualified firm to perform required investigations. The CAO is recommending Council approval to supplement the current legal services agreement with Shaw Law Group, in an amount not to exceed $114,910.00 for expenses associated with investigatory services on two claims of discrimination. This supplement is necessary because the investigation required additional work beyond that originally anticipated.
Policy Considerations: This funding is required to make final payments for this completed investigation into claims of discrimination.
Economic Impacts: Not applicable.
Environmental Considerations Contracting for outside legal services is an administrative activity

that will not result in direct or indirect physical changes in the environment and is not a project subject to California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) review. CEQA Guidelines section 15378 (b) (5).
Sustainability: Not applicable.
Commission/Committee Action: Not applicable.
Rationale for Recommendation: This funding is required to ensure adequate funding for the City’s investigation into claims of discrimination, as required by law.
Financial Considerations: No additional funding is needed for this supplemental contract. There is sufficient funding in various departments’ budget to continue to share in the cost of this investigation.
Local Business Enterprise (LBE): Shaw Law Group is an LBE.
