A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING 2021 WEED ABATEMENT WORK AND CHARGES
AND ESTABLISHING LIENS ON PROPERTY FOR UNPAID CHARGES
WHEREAS, the Director of the Community Development Department, acting on behalf of Code Enforcement, has filed with the Salinas City Council her report on weed abatement work for the calendar year 2021 performed in the City of Salinas, together with the charges of doing said work, attached hereto and designated as Exhibit “A”, in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 14, Article II, of the Salinas City Code; and WHEREAS, the public hearing was set for Tuesday, the 11th day of January 2022, at the hour of 4:00 p.m. of said day, at the City of Salinas Rotunda located at 200 Lincoln Ave., Salinas, California, as the time and place for a public hearing upon the matter of said report and work done thereunder and the charges contained therein; and WHEREAS, notice of the time and place of said hearing has been given as required by the provisions of Chapter 14, Article II, of the Salinas City Code; and WHEREAS, the Council hereby finds and determines that all protests and objections to said report and work done thereunder should be rejected and denied.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Salinas City Council:
1. That all protests and objections presented at said hearing are hereby rejected and denied and the “Weed Abatement Report” attached hereto as Exhibit A is hereby confirmed in full.
2. That, pursuant to Salinas Municipal Code Section 14-30, the amount of all charges and costs that remain unpaid, shall be entered upon the assessment roll, to be collected at the same time and in the same manner as ordinary municipal taxes are collected, and shall be subject to the same penalties and the same procedure under foreclosure for sale and in case of delinquency as provided for in ordinary municipal taxes.
