RESOLUTION NO. (N.C.S.)
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DIRECT PURCHASE OF
40MM PROJECTILE LAUNCHERS
WHEREAS, 40MM Projectile Launchers afford the ability to use less lethal impact munitions (sponge rounds/foam batons) in conjunction with de-escalation tactics when feasible; and WHEREAS, the Salinas Police Department wishes to purchase additional 40MM Projectile Launchers to expand availability of this equipment to Police Officers in the Patrol and Investigations Divisions; and WHEREAS, there are no local vendors available for this specialized police equipment and LC Action Police Supply has provided a quote totaling $16,278.46 for four 40MM Launchers with accessories and case; and WHEREAS, the City Council can approve this purchase pursuant to Salinas Municipal Code Section 12-27 (exception to low-bid based competition) in contracting for equipment, materials, supplies and services and pursuant to Salinas Municipal Code 12-28 (local purchasing preference).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the Salinas City Council authorizes the direct purchase of four 40MM Launchers with accessories and cases from LC Action Police Supply for a total cost not to exceed $16,278.46.
