Police Chief Roberto Filice
222 Lincoln Ave
Salinas, CA 93901

Dear Chief Filice,

I am pleased to inform your agency that a customer of Transcend Robotics would like to donate a Vantage Fully Loaded Robot ($25,500 value each) to your agency to protect Salinas Police officers and community members. The Vantage robot is used by SWAT and patrol officers across the world to enter a home or building ahead of officers to establish communications (both visually and verbally) with a subject via robot to de-escalate volatile situations without incident. Transcend Robotics has been providing robots since 2014 with customers such as Los Angeles Sheriff, Phoenix PD, Denver PD, Cincinnati, Columbus, San Antonio, Dallas Sheriff, Buffalo PD, Charleston Sheriff, US Army, and many others.

About the Donor:

The donor, Huei Thahn Doan is a successful entrepreneur who owns numerous businesses including a real estate investment firm and a chain of smoke shops. Huei is also the spokesperson for Nice Guys Vegan a vegan comfort food restaurant chain with four fully operational restaurants and four additional restaurants in development. Huei as a young child emigrated to America with his family from Vietnam and graduated from Oak Grove High School in San Jose. After graduating from Cosmetology School Huei spent several years kickstarting businesses to no success and became homeless. Huei’s passion to give back to law enforcement is rooted in the help he received from law enforcement programs. That help put him on track to establishing the businesses he owns today. Huei’s philanthropic mission is to “refund, not defund the police for their service to the community”.

Furthermore, as a business owner Huei appreciates the assistance of local law enforcement when vandals damage his business locations.

Huei’s objective is to see these life saving robots establish a dialogue with those citizens in most need. The tools are available, but he is not satisfied with the rate of adoption across SWAT and especially, patrol where they face more dangerous situations in a week than a SWAT team may face in a year. He believes the sluggish adoption rate is a funding problem. Huei has donated over 12 robots to local agencies to date with no sign of slowing down. The Donor is a law-abiding citizen with no criminal record.

Donation Event:

After the customary documents and review has been completed by the agency Transcend Robotics requests a scheduled two (2) hour donation event (ideally 10 AM – 12 PM, local time) to be held by the agency. The event would have all critical patrol (Commanders and Captains), SWAT (Commander/Capt.) and administrative staff (Chief/Sheriff, Assistant Chiefs) in attendance to meet with the donor. After statements have been made by the Donor, Agency leadership and Transcend Robotics a training session for both patrol and SWAT can be commenced. We ask that the agency invite local media as will Transcend Robotics. Transcend Robotics will document the event.

Transcend Robotics will provide breakfast.
