RESOLUTION NO. (N.C.S.)
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DONATION ACCEPTANCE AND DIRECT PURCHASE OF UNMANNED AERIAL VEHICLES AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT WHEREAS, the Salinas Police Department wishes to obtain a BRINC Lemur S Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) and BRINC Drones is donating this equipment, valued at $17,000, to the Salinas Police Department at no cost to the City; and WHEREAS, the Salinas Police Department wishes to purchase four additional UAVs and associated equipment to expand availability of equipment with thermal imaging capabilities to police officers in the Patrol Division; and WHEREAS, there are no local vendors available for this specialized police equipment and Unmanned Vehicle Technologies (UVT) has provided a quote totaling $86,642.91 for the requested UAVs and associated equipment; and WHEREAS, the City Council can approve this purchase pursuant to Salinas Municipal Code Section 12-27 (exception to low-bid based competition) in contracting for equipment, materials, supplies and services and pursuant to Salinas Municipal Code 12-28 (local purchasing preference).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the Salinas City Council accepts the donation of a Lemur S UAV with associated accessories from BRINC Drones and authorizes the execution of all necessary donation acceptance documents.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED the Salinas City Council authorizes the direct purchase of four unmanned aerial vehicles with associated accessories from Unmanned Vehicle Technologies (UVT) for a total cost not to exceed $86,642.91.
