A RESOLUTION APPROVING BID AWARD AND EXECUTION OF A CONTRACT TO VINTAGE CONTRACTORS, Inc. for the CENTRAL PARK TENNIS COURTS WALL REPLACEMENT AND RESURFACING AND CLAREMONT PARK TENNIS COURTS RESURFACING; CIP No. 9022 in the amount of $331,362.00 WHEREAS, the FY 2019-2020 and FY 2021-2022 City of Salinas adopted CIP budgets include funding for CIP 9022 for the Tennis Court Improvement Project; and WHEREAS, the Public Works Department has prepared plans and specifications for tennis court improvements at Central Park and Claremont Park; and WHEREAS, on April 26, 2022, the Central Park Tennis Courts Wall Replacement and Resurfacing and Claremont Park Tennis Courts Resurfacing Project; CIP No. 9022 was advertised for competitive bidding; and WHEREAS, on May 24, 2022, at a public meeting held virtually via Zoom, staff publicly opened, examined, and read all bids received via PlanetBids, for the Central Park Tennis Courts Wall Replacement and Resurfacing and Claremont Park Tennis Courts Resurfacing; CIP No. 9022; and WHEREAS, one bid was received by Vintage Contractors, Inc, which exceeded the engineer’s estimate by 17%; and WHEREAS, the bid received by Vintages Contractors, Inc. was deemed reasonable given the cost escalation of materials, labor and other commodities due to inflation, and sufficient funds were allocated to award the project; and WHEREAS, City staff thereupon reported the results of the bidding to the City Council at its regular meeting on June 21, 2022, and the Council in open session at said meeting examined the report of staff; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SALINAS hereby awards a construction contract to Vintage Contractors, Inc. in the amount of $331,362.00 for the Central Park Tennis Courts Wall Replacement and Resurfacing and Claremont Park Tennis Courts Resurfacing Project; CIP No. 9022; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Mayor of Salinas is hereby authorized and directed on behalf of the City of Salinas to execute a contract with Vintage Contractors Inc for said work.
