DISCUSSION:
This report will explain the need to revisit and amend previously approved purchases.
BACKGROUND:
The City of Salinas has been renewing the older fleet to meet maintenance needs. Below is a list of vehicles that have been previously ordered and not received. There has been numerous delays and price increases to these vehicles. The 2021 MY Ford Transit van has been on order since October 2021 and was just cancelled by Ford. The new pricing for a 2023 MY is $55,834.82. To keep these orders moving forward we are requesting that there be up to a twenty five percent increase allowance in addition to having flexibility to look at other options to purchase to fulfill our orders.

Public Works Fleet, requests that we try and continue with the purchases from the previously selected vendors identified in the resolution but have an option to purchase a suitable like kind vehicle should we find one sooner at the not to exceed 25% price increase identified. The reason for this price increase is mainly due to product pricing increasing significantly due to lack of supply.
