A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT WITH PENINSULA BUSINESS INTERIORS FOR THE FURNISHING OF THE SALINAS FIRE DEPARTMENT CITY HALL TENANT IMPROVEMENT PROJECT AND THE TRANSFER OF CIP 9541 FUNDS INTO THE CIP 9300 PROJECT FUND WHEREAS, In 2021, the Salinas Fire Department requested and received authorization from City Council to commence the Salinas City Hall Tenant Improvement Project; and, WHEREAS, The tenant improvements to the west wing of City Hall will be used as an alternate training facility, to provide adequate spacing for Administration and Prevention staff, and improve operational efficiency; and, WHEREAS, Premier Builders was awarded the project in 2021, commenced construction in 2022, and provided an estimated date of completion of March 31, 2023; and, WHEREAS, in preparation for the move, Fire Administration sought and received a quote from Peninsula Business Interiors for the purchase and installation of furnishings for all workstations and shared workspace for a total of $132, 654.23; and WHEREAS, Salinas Fire has a need to transfer available CIP 9541 funds into the CIP 9300 account in the amount of $125,903.72, to award a contract for furnishings and add to contingencies.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SALINAS CITY COUNCIL that pursuant to Salinas Municipal Code section 12-27 the City Council authorizes the Purchasing Agent to purchase furnishings as identified in the attached quote from Peninsula Business Interiors in an amount not to exceed $132,654.23 plus a 10% contingency; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council authorizes the transfer of $125,903.72 available in the CIP 9541 account into the Salinas City Hall Tenant Improvement CIP 9300 account; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council authorizes an increase of $125,903.72 in the appropriation of CIP 9300.
