BACKGROUND:
On November 5, 2019, City Council approved Resolution No. 21732 awarding three (3) On-Call Job Order Contracts for Sidewalk Improvements to Hemi’s Landscaping and Concrete Inc., Golz Construction Inc., and C2 Builders Inc., and authorizing the Public Works Director, in consultation with the City Attorney, to execute amendments to the Contract and to execute future contracts for individual job orders between the City of Salinas and respective contractors. Each Contract was awarded for a not-to-exceed amount of $2,000,000 and a minimum amount of $50,000, and more specifically, each Contract was awarded at the unit prices set forth and contained in the proposals for the On-Call Job Order Contract for Sidewalk Improvements of said successful bidders.
The On-Call Job Order Contract for Sidewalk Improvements, CIP 9720 is a continuation of the City’s effort to repair and/or rehabilitate street related infrastructure in areas that are deteriorated, damaged, in need of repair, and/or to make facility upgrades to meet current state or federal requirements, more specifically Title II (ADA). The Contract allows for job orders to be assigned to the awarded contractor using unit prices provided in their respective proposals.
On October 11, 2022, the MST Bus Pads Installation and E Alvin Dr Curb & Gutter Repair JOC was authorized for Hemi’s Landscape and Concrete Inc. in the amount of $55,064.00. The MST Bus Pads Installation and E Alvin Dr Curb & Gutter JOC scope of work included removal and disposal of one tree along E Alvin Dr, installation of three (3) ADA-compliant bus pads equivalent of installing 95 square feet (SF) of sidewalk, and removal and replacement of 198 lineal feet (LF) of curb and gutter along E Alvin Dr between N Main St and Wheeler Dr.
Additional work and quantities approved during construction included nice (9) LF of curb and gutter, two (2) SF of sidewalk for the bus pads, removal and disposal of two (2) unmarked detector loop handholes, and removal and disposal of one additional tree along E Alvin Dr. These additions increased the JOC by $4,996.00 for a total job order amount of $60,060.00.
The contractor completed the original contract work, the scope additions, and punch list items on November 2, 2022. The construction methods and materials met the Project Specifications as forth by the contract documents and the JOC has been deemed complete.
