A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPROPRIATION OF FUNDS
TO THE STORM SEWER FUND FROM THE GENERAL FUND FOR
EMERGENCY REPAIR OF A SINKHOLE
WHEREAS, since December 27, 2022, California has experienced unprecedented weather events; and WHEREAS, on January 10, 2023, the City Council proclaimed a local emergency due to severe storms which caused significant rain amounts; and WHEREAS, Public Works staff informed the City Engineer of a sinkhole located adjacent to the access road at the Salinas Fairways Golf Course behind the Los Padres Elementary School multi-use building over an existing storm drain pipe; and WHEREAS, an emergency contract for time and materials has been executed with The Don Chapin Company for repair of the sinkhole and storm drain pipe; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council authorizes the transfer of $100,000 from the General Fund Infrastructure Maintenance Reserve to the Storm Sewer Fund; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council authorizes an increase of $100,000 in the Storm Sewer Fund; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council authorizes replenishment of the General Fund Infrastructure Maintenance Reserve with funds received from the State of California and/or Federal government.
