RESOLUTION NO. (N.C.S.)
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DIRECT PURCHASE OF A BAUER SCBA COMPRESSOR WHEREAS, SCBAs are vital firefighting equipment used to protect firefighters against oxygen deficiency in a variety of hostile environments; and, WHEREAS, the Salinas Fire Department has a need for an additional SCBA Compressor at Fire Station 5; and, WHEREAS, fire apparatus will have the ability to obtain refills from the nearest station, while staying available for dispatch and improve inefficiencies with travel time, fuel costs and depreciation of resources; and, WHEREAS, The Salinas Fire Department collaborated with Cal Fire to obtain a quote from the lowest qualified bidder; and, WHEREAS, The Salinas Fire Department requests the City Council to approve the direct purchase of an SCBA compressor from Bauer Compressors, in an amount not to exceed $80,878.25, plus a 10% contingency; and, WHEREAS, funding for this purchase is available in the General Fund Capital Outlays SCBAs account; and, WHEREAS, the City Council has the authority to approve direct purchases of goods and services under Salinas Municipal Code Section 12-27; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the criteria of Section 12-27 are met and that the purchase may be made without application of the local purchasing preference (Section 12-28.080).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Salinas City Council authorizes the Purchasing Officer to complete the purchase authorized by this Resolution and sign all necessary contracts upon review and approval of the City Attorney.
