Original budget was created to accommodate for our CPR and other Admin trainings. HR has recently brought to our attention that in-house training of drivers that are in need of their Class A license are no longer acceptable within the State of California.

An outside source for this training is being set in motion by the HR department but the cost has fallen back to Public Works to fund the program. The original budget did not take into account the fee that would be charged to get our employees trained and certified. At this time there are 6 employees that need to be certified. 40,000$

This account has been exhausted due to repairs made to HVAC units/Duct system. The repairs are necessary due to meeting required minimum air standards. We have also had half of the sump pump system fail which brought on other necessary repairs to the plumbing system. There has been an increase of costs when getting contractors to perform work over the last year. This amount will also cover security for the city yard which has been broken into on a weekly basis. These labor funds are tied to the increase in building maintenance supplies.

The Recreation and Parks Division received notice that the Sherwood Hall Cooling Tower is inoperable. The cooling tower three- way valve has failed, and the chiller will not stay on. In addition, the tower piping has also failed with debris and mineral deposits preventing flow, leaving the building's HVAC cooling system inoperable at this time. The winter storms of 2023 exacerbated the need for new roofs at the Community Center and Sherwood Hall. The leakage amount throughout the facility is substantial that repairs are no longer an option.

Ratification of the emergency agreement for the cooling tower repair is also requested. (Transfer from Measure G Fund.)

The Police Dept. has spent 56% of the vehicle parts budget. At this spending rate we will be approximately $40,000 over budget for vehicle parts and supplies. This overage is the result of significant and expensive repairs (engines, transmissions, etc.) required to keep existing vehicles on the road while awaiting the upfitting of Police Vehicles. (Delayed due to the continued vacancy of the Upfitting position).
40,000$
During the FY 23 budget process, $55,000 was removed from the budget to support 6-months of a new Upfitting Position which HR anticipated to be hired by January 1st. That position is not filled and the Police Department currently has 21 vehicles which require upfitting. We have identified a vendor willing to contract to assist with the building of the vehicles and we need $50,000 to support this service.
