RESOLUTION NO. (N.C.S.)
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL ACCEPTING THE ANNUAL PUBLIC ART UPDATE AND AUTHORIZING AND APPROPRIATING THE USE OF MUNICIPAL ART FUNDS WHEREAS, the Public Art Commission prepared the Annual Public Arts Plan for fiscal year 2023-2024 and includes specific activities that promotes public art and recommends the release of funds from the Municipal Art Fund to cover the costs of the activities described in the annual plan.
WHEREAS, the Public Arts Commission unanimously voted to accept the Annual Public Art Plan and recommend that the City Council authorize the release of an amount up to $8,000 from the Municipal Art Fund in FY 2024; and WHEREAS, seven thousand five hundred dollars would go to support new or existing cultural performing art events in Salinas by offering matching grants (in-kind match allowed) of up to two thousand five hundred dollars. Up to five hundred dollars will be used for marketing the Public Art Commission meetings, Public Art Master Plan projects, vacant commissioner seats and the grant opportunity; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the Salinas City Council accepts and approves the Annual Public Art Plan and authorize use and appropriation of up to $8,000 from the Municipal Art Fund for Fiscal Year 2023-2024; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Salinas City Council hereby authorizes the Library and Community Services Department to design and administer the Public Art cultural event grant opportunity.
