A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN ADDITIONAL ALLOCATION OF FUNDING FOR THE DIRECT PURCHASE OF A TRANSIT VAN FOR THE LIBRARY AND COMMUNITY SERVICES DEPARTMENT WHEREAS, replacing aging vehicles within the City of Salinas’s vehicle fleet supports City’s Council’s Strategic Plan and Goals of “Operational Effectiveness”; and WHEREAS, Staff chose a 2021 Transit 350 from Salinas Valley Ford at a cost of $38,228.76; and WHEREAS, Due to shortages and unavailability, there was a delay in completing the purchase. The 2023 transit van is now available at an increased price of $18,779.40 for a total price of $57,008.16; and WHEARAS, the city has already approved and encumbered $38,228.76 to purchase this van on September 21, 2021; and WHEARAS, Staff is requesting the authorization of the remaining funds of 7,963.64 that’s unassigned in CIP 9285 to be allocated to cover partial cost; and WHEARAS, Staff is requesting the balance ($10,815.76) needed to cover the additional cost of the Ford Transit Van requires the use of General Fund unassigned fund balance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Salinas City Council authorizes an increase of up to $18,779.40 to CIP 9285 and transfer from the General Fund to the CIP Fund and use of General Fund fund balance in the same amount to purchase one new 2023 Ford Transit van for a total cost of $57,008.16 PASSED AND APPROVED this 4th day of April 2023 by the following vote AYES:
