A RESOLUTION FOR APPOINTMENTS TO THE SALINAS VALLEY GROUNDWATER SUSTAINABILITY AGENCY BOARD OF DIRECTORS WHEREAS, the City of Salinas in accordance with the Salinas Valley Basin Groundwater Sustainability Agency (SVBGSA) JPA has responsibility for appointing a representative seat and an alternate to represent the City on the JPA Board of Directors; and WHEREAS, the City is also responsible for appointing a California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) regulated water company representative and alternate Board member to serve on the SVGSA Board; and WHEREAS, the primary Board member representing the City of Salinas is currently Councilmember Anthony Rocha and the alternate Board member is Councilmember Carla González; and WHEREAS, California Water Services Company (Cal Water) and Alisal Water Corporation (ALCO) are the only two water companies providing service within Salinas and are, therefore, the only two companies eligible for appointment to the Board; and WHEREAS, the representative from Cal Water (Brenda Granillo) has been serving as the CPUC regulated water company representative to the Board and Tom Adcock from ALCO as the alternate; and WHEREAS, the afore mentioned appointments will expire on June 30, 2023 and thus must be reappointed; and WHEREAS, the City of Salinas desires is to reappoint appoint Councilmember Anthony Rocha to serve on the JPA Board and Councilmember Carla González to serve as the alternate; and WHEREAS, a representative from ALCO, Tom Adcock has agreed to be the successor representative to the Board and Brenda Granillo from Cal Water has agreed to be the alternate.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of Salinas that the Board member representing the City of Salinas to be Councilmember Anthony Rocha and the alternate Board member to be Councilmember Carla González to the SVGSA Board of Directors; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the representative from ALCO (Tom Adcock) be appointed as the CPUC-regulated water company representative to the SVGSA Board of Directors and that the representative from Cal Water (Brenda Granillo) be appointed as the CPUC-regulated water company alternate Board member.
