DEPARTMENT: LIBRARY & COMMUNITY SERVICES
FROM: KRISTAN LUNDQUIST, DIRECTOR
TITLE: AGREEMENT AMENDMENT NO. 1 WITH SMITH & ENRIGHT LANDSCAPING, INC. FOR LANDSCAPE MAINTENANCE SERVICES FOR CITY PARKS AND FACILITIES RECOMMENDED MOTION:

A motion to approve a Resolution authorizing the Interim City Manager to execute Agreement Amendment No. 1 with Smith & Enright Landscaping, Inc. for Landscape Maintenance Services for City Parks and Facilities to add an additional not to exceed amount of $50,000 per year or $100,000 for the remaining two years of the three-year term for general irrigation repairs, as needed.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends that the City Council approve a Resolution authorizing the Interim City Manager to execute Agreement Amendment No. 1 with Smith & Enright Landscaping, Inc. for Landscape Maintenance Services for City Parks and Facilities to add an additional not to exceed amount of $50,000 per year or $100,000 for the remaining two years of the three-year term for general irrigation repairs, as needed.

BACKGROUND:

On June 21, 2022, the City Council awarded Smith & Enright Landscaping, Inc. an agreement for landscape and maintenance services for parks and facilities in the amount not to exceed $640,251 per year, or $1,920,753 for a three-year term. The main scope of this agreement is to provide mowing, edging, trimming, tree pruning, weed control, rodent control, removal and disposal of debris and other items of work. Irrigation repairs are not included in the current scope of work.

The park irrigation systems need regular maintenance and repairs annually. The Park Maintenance Team can perform some repairs, but often the maintenance and repair requires more skilled and/or dedicated labor to address. The Department wishes to amend the Landscape and Maintenance Services Agreement for City Parks and Facilities to include an additional not to exceed amount of $50,000 per year, or $100,000 for the remaining two years, for general irrigation repairs, as needed, to City parks and facilities. These repairs include but are not limited to repair and or installation of main lines, lateral lines, valves, heads, controllers and necessary wiring.

The Agreement Amendment No. 1 would increase the annual not to exceed amount to Six Hundred Forty Thousand and Two Hundred Fifty-One Dollars ($690,251) annually for the remaining two years of the three-year term, for a total amount of compensation not to exceed Two Million Twenty Thousand Seven Hundred and Fifty-Three Dollars ($2,020,753) for the three-year term.
