A RESOLUTION TO APPROVING THE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE NORTH MAIN STREET AND LAMAR STREET PEDESTRIAN IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT AND AWARDING A CONTRACT TO COASTAL PAVING & EXCAVATING FOR THE NORTH MAIN STREET AND LAMAR STREET PEDESTRIAN IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT, CIP 9362, IN THE AMOUNT OF $209,209.00 WHEREAS, On May 2, 2023, City Council approved Resolution No. 22653 accepting grant funds from Highway Safety Improvement Program for the North Main and Lamar Street Pedestrian Improvements Project and authorizing the Public Works Director to execute agreements related to the grant; and WHEREAS, the project will improve the safety of pedestrians crossing through the North Main Street and Lamar Street crosswalk; and WHEREAS, project plans and specifications are complete, and the project was advertised on November 13, 2023; and WHEREAS, the City opened bids on December 12, 2023, and the apparent low bidder was Coastal Paving & Excavating Inc. in the amount of $209,209.00; and WHEREAS, the City has determined that the project is exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Guidelines (Section 15301, Class 1(c)) because the actions consists of operation and minor alteration of an existing City street.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Salinas City Council approve the plans and specifications for North Main Street and Lamar Street Pedestrian Improvements Project, CIP 9362; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Salinas awards a contract to Coastal Paving & Excavating Inc. for the North Main Street and Lamar Street Pedestrian Improvements Project, CIP 9362, in the amount of $209,209.00; PASSED AND APPROVED this 23rd day of January 2024 by the following vote:
