A RESOLUTION APPROVING AN ORGANIC MATERIALS DIRECT
SERVICE PROVIDER AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF SALINAS
AND ATLAS ORGANICS
WHEREAS, SB 1383 includes requirements for jurisdictions to procure organic material proportionate to its population; and WHEREAS, in May 2023 the Salinas City Council entered into an agreement with Atlas Organics (Resolution No. 22654) which expired on December 31, 2023; and WHEREAS, Atlas Organics works with the Salinas Valley Solid Waste Authority; and WHEREAS, the City of Salinas wishes to enter into an agreement with Atlas Organics to be the City’s direct service provider of organic materials in compliance with SB 1383; and WHEREAS, the agreement will remain into effect until December 31, 2024. The term of the Agreement may be extended by mutual agreement of the parties for three (3) optional, one (1) year extensions; and WHEREAS, The Salinas Valley Solid Waste Authority has received a grant from CalRecycle to cover the cost of the procurement of organic material through 2025; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Salinas that the Organic Materials Direct Service Provider Agreement between the City of Salinas, and Atlas Organics is hereby approved; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Interim City Manager be authorized to execute a contract with Atlas Organics in an amount not to exceed $67,000; and PASSED AND APPROVED this 6th day of February 2024, by the following vote:
