A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DIRECT PURCHASE OF A COMPACT UTILITY TRACTOR AND VERTICUTTER-SEEDER WHEREAS, the Parks Department desires to purchase one (1) 2024 John Deere Compact Utility Tractor and one (1) Verticutter-Seeder; and WHEREAS, funds are appropriated and available within the Parks operating budget Capital Outlay Equipment account (1200.55.5328-66.5400); and WHEREAS, Staff chose the 2024 John Deere Compact Utility Tractor from RDO of Salinas who provided a Sourcewell state bid at a cost of $32,960.22; and WHEREAS, Staff chose the 2024 Verticutter-Seeder from Land Pride. The Sourcewell state bid quote was prepared by C&N tractor from Watsonville at a cost of $17,917.75; and WHEREAS, the City Council can approve this purchase pursuant to Salinas Municipal Code Section 12-27 (exception to low-bid based competition) in contracting for equipment, materials, supplies and services and pursuant to Salinas Municipal Code 12-28 (local purchasing preference).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the Salinas City Council authorizes the Interim City Manager and the Purchasing Agent to complete the direct purchase of one (1) new 2024 John Deere Compact Utility Tractor from RDO of Salinas at a cost of $32,960.22, and one Verticutter-Seeder from Land Pride at a total cost of $17,917.75.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the Salinas City Council approves a contingency of 10 percent of the combined total due to market volatility and authorizes the Purchasing Officer to utilize the contingency as required to complete the purchases authorized by this Resolution.
