ALISAL VIBRANCY PLAN SALINAS-BASED ARTIST GRANTS PILOT PROGRAM Grant Amount
$10,000 up to $25,000 per individual artist or artist group Number of Grants
Approximately 7 awards, ranging between $10,000 and $25,000, will be granted through the Program. Award amounts will be based on the artist’s public art project budget needs.
Eligibility
Salinas-based artists or artist groups who respond to and are selected through upcoming request for proposals (RFP) for Calls for Artists for the Alisal Greening and Beautification Project (the Project) must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible for the grant:
Applicant must be at least 18 years of age.
Applicant must be a resident of the City of Salinas for at least two years and must provide proof of residency.
Requirements
Acceptance of the grant requires the artist or artist group to participate in and complete a combination of trainings and workshops (provided by the Central Coast Arts Coalition, the Arts Council for Monterey County, Center for Cultural Innovation, Department of Industrial Relations, and or Caltrans), which support the professional development of the artists as well as support implementation of the Project’s Calls for Artist, for the duration of 1 year.
Recipients are required to enter into a grant agreement with the City to establish the allowed use of the funds and required outcomes. If the recipient does not fulfill the agreement requirements, recipient will be subject to paying back 50% of the grant funds. After year 1, and upon completion of the Program’s trainings and workshops, recipient is no longer financially obligated to the requirements of the grant agreement.
