A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT FOR SERVICES WITH GOOD GUARD SECURITY SERVICES, INC. FOR SECURITY SERVICES AT THE EMERGENCY MOTEL PROGRAM WHEREAS, Benitez Security Services, Inc., (BSSI) has been providing security services to the Emergency Motel Program (EMP) under an agreement set to end on October 31, 2024; and WHEREAS, on June 3, 2024, the City of Salinas (City) issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) to secure ongoing unarmed security services at the EMP following the conclusion of the current security service agreement with BSSI on October 31, 2024; and WHEREAS, after a competitive selection process, Good Guard Security Services, Inc. was identified as the most qualified contractor to provide 24/7 unarmed security services for the EMP; and WHEREAS, the City desires to enter into an Agreement for Services with Good Guard Security Services, Inc. for the provision of unarmed security services at the EMP, commencing November 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025 with a total compensation amount not to exceed $372,765; and WHEREAS, the funding source for this agreement will be appropriations from the Encampment Resolution Fund; and WHEREAS, the City of Salinas has determined that the proposed action is not a project as defined by the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) (CEQA Guidelines Section 15378).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Salinas that it hereby authorizes the City Manager to negotiate and execute an Agreement with Good Guard Security Services, Inc. for unarmed security services at the Emergency Motel Program in an amount not to exceed $372,765 from November 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025.
