A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE SALE OF A 1988 SIMON DUPLEX 100’ AERIAL APPARATUS TO THE CITY OF HOLLISTER, CA WHEREAS, the Salinas Fire Department has identified several vehicles and equipment that no longer meet service demands, necessitating their disposal; and WHEREAS, in accordance with Salinas Municipal Code section 12-15, the City Council is authorized to declare surplus and the disposal of certain vehicles and equipment; and WHEREAS, Resolution No. 21831 previously authorized the surplus of miscellaneous firefighting tools and equipment, vehicle accessories, and firefighting personal protective equipment (PPE) that are beyond useful life or no longer supported by the manufacturer for parts or repair; and WHEREAS, a 1988 Simon Duplex 100’ aerial apparatus identified as surplus fire apparatus, are recommended for sale to the City of Hollister, CA, which has expressed a need for this specific type fire apparatus to address the need to train the City’s fire department personnel in the operation of such equipment; and WHEREAS, the Salinas Fire Department seeks authorization to sell said surplus vehicle in Resolution No. 21831 to the City of Hollister, a California charter city for the sum of five-hundred ($500) dollars as remuneration for recent repairs; and WHEREAS, the Fire Chief and City Manager of the City of Hollister have agreed to the “as-is” terms of the sale and acknowledge the current condition of the vehicle; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Salinas approves the declaration of certain vehicles and equipment as surplus and authorizes their disposal, in accordance with Salinas Municipal Code section 12-15; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council authorizes the sale of surplus fire apparatus identified as a 1988 Simon Duplex Tractor/Tiller Aerial Fire Apparatus to the City of Hollister, CA, a California charter city, in accordance with in accordance with Salinas Municipal Code section 12-16.
