RESOLUTION NO. (N.C.S.)
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL ADOPTING THE FISCAL YEAR 2024-25 PUBLIC ART PLAN AMENDMENT AND AUTHORIZING AND APPROPRIATING THE USE OF MUNICIPAL ART FUNDS WHEREAS, the Public Art Commission prepared the Annual Public Arts Plan for fiscal year 2024-2025 and includes specific activities that promotes public art and recommends the release of funds from the Municipal Art Fund to cover the costs of the activities described in the annual plan; and WHEREAS, the Public Arts Commission unanimously voted to accept the Annual Public Art Plan and recommend that the City Council authorize the release of an amount up to fifteen thousand dollars from the Municipal Art Fund in fiscal year 2024-2025; and WHEREAS, ten thousand dollars would go to support new or expanded cultural performing art events in Salinas by offering matching grants (in-kind match allowed) of up to ten thousand dollars. An additional five thousand dollars to conduct the biennial cyclical maintenance survey of the municipal art collection as required by “Art in Public Places Policies and Procedures Manual”; and WHERAS, the Public Arts Commission voted to recommend to the City Council that the fiscal year 2024-2025 Annual Public Art Plan be amended to include and additional ten thousand dollars to support new and expanded cultural performing art events for a total of twenty thousand dollars and to add an additional five thousand dollars for a total of ten thousand dollars to conduct the biennial cyclical maintenance survey of the municipal art collection as requested by the “Art in Public Places Policies and Procedures Manual.” NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the Salinas City Council increases the Fiscal Year 2024-2025 Annual Public Art Plan Amendment by $15,000 for a revised not to exceed $115,000 and authorizes the appropriation and expenditure of up to thirty thousand dollars ($30,000) from the Municipal Art Fund.
