RESOLUTION NO. (N.C.S.)
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PAYMENT TO SOUNDTHINKING, INC. FOR SUBSCRIPTION-BASED SHOTSPOTTER SERVICE WHEREAS, ShotSpotter helps law enforcement agencies by directing police officers to the precise location of gunfire incidents within seconds of the shots being fired by using acoustic sensors placed throughout the city to identify when and where gunfire occurs; and WHEREAS, the City of Salinas originally entered into an agreement with ShotSpotter Flex on August 31, 2016 for the purchase of the subscription-based service for a three-year period, and has approved payments to continue services in subsequent years; and WHEREAS, the City Council approved the current Agreement with SoundThinking, Inc. on December 5, 2023 to continue ShotSpotter services through December 13, 2024; and WHEREAS, the Salinas Police Department desires to maintain the ShotSpotter subscription-based services under the terms and conditions of the existing Agreement, with funds already approved as part of the Department’s FY 2024-25 budget.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Salinas City Council authorizes the Purchasing Agent to execute a renewal subscription with SoundThinking for a ShotSpotter Subscription,and increase the compensation by $490,000 for a revised not to exceed amount of $980,000 from December 14, 2024 to December 13, 2025.
