RESOLUTION NO. (N.C.S.)
A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE CESAR CHAVEZ PARK SOCCER FIELD; CIP NO. 9005, FOR MAINTENANCE AND RESPONSIBILITY WHEREAS, on August 15, 2017 accepted a grant from the California Department of Parks and Recreation Office of Grants and Local Services (Resolution No. 21241) to construct one synthetic turf soccer field, two youth soccer fields and a half-court basketball court; and WHEREAS, in March 2021, the Department of Parks and Recreation approved a change of scop to construct a full-sized artificial turf soccer field and minor improvements ; and WHEREAS, on May 16, 2023, City Council awarded the Cesar Chavez Park Soccer Field; CIP No. 9005 to Norcal Contractor in the amount of $1,456,684.92; and WHEREAS, the project constructed a full-size synthetic turf soccer field, and upgraded and adjusted the existing irrigation system to accommodate the new layout, and constructed a bioretention area, including new landscaping; and WHEREAS, the project was completed on April 8, 2024, and the Plant Establishment Period ended on August 11, 2024; and WHEREAS, a total of three contract change orders were issued totaling $145,245.01; and WHEREAS, a fourth change order is needed to balance the increased bid items totaling $72,898.50; and WHEREAS, the work has been inspected and has been determined that the project meets the requirements of the project plans and specifications.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Salinas City Council accepts the Cesar Chavez Park Soccer Field; CIP No. 9005 project for maintenance and responsibility; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Salinas City Council hereby approves the transfer of funds from CIP 9361 (1200 fund) to CIP No. 9005 in the amount of $43,100; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Salinas City Council hereby approves the balancing contract change order (CCO #4) in the amount of $72,898.50.
