TITLE: 2026 Housing and land use committee calendar
RECOMMENDED MOTION:
A motion to approve the Housing and Land Use Committee calendar for 2026 which reflects a change in meeting frequency from bi-weekly to monthly.
DISCUSSION:
The Housing and Land Use Committee (HLUC) currently convenes on a bi-weekly schedule. To promote efficiency, staff recommends that beginning in calendar year 2026 the HLUC convene once per month. Meetings will be held on Tuesdays of each month at 3:30pm as outlined on the attached draft calendar. The selected dates align with the Department’s State and Federal mandated submission requirements. This adjustment will better balance meeting frequency with the volume and complexity of pending items while maintaining the Committee’s capacity to respond to emerging issues as needed.
The revised schedule will also provide adequate time for staff report preparation, interdepartmental review, and Committee deliberation prior to forwarding recommendations to the City Council. While meetings may still be rescheduled or added as needed in accordance with Brown Act provisions, adoption of this revised calendar establishes a clear and practical framework for planning and public notification purposes.
