RESOLUTION NO. (N.C.S.)
RESOLUTION APPROVING RENEWAL OF ORDINANCE NO. 2657
WHEREAS, Assembly Bill 481 (AB 481), codified in Government Code sections 7070 through 7075, requires the Salinas Police Department (SPD) to obtain approval from City Council, by adopting a military equipment use policy by ordinance, prior to taking certain actions related to the funding, acquisition, or use of military equipment as defined by AB 481, and this was completed via City Council’s adoption of Ordinance No. 2657 on August 23, 2022; and WHEREAS, SPD has presented the 2025 AB 481 Annual Report and contends that the military equipment use policy and military equipment in the department’s possession continues to meet all requirements set forth in AB, thus SPD is requesting that City Council renew Ordinance No. 2657 as required by AB 481.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Salinas City Council hereby renews Ordinance No. 2657 pertaining to the military equipment use policy in compliance with AB 481.
