RESOLUTION NO. (N.C.S.)
A RESOLUTION TO INCREASE PROJECT CONTIGENCY FOR SANITARY SEWER SPOT REPAIR AND IMPROVEMENTS; CIP 9010 WHEREAS, on August 20, 2024, the Sanitary Sewer Spot Repair and Improvements project was awarded to Sierra Construction & Excavation, Inc. through Resolution No. 23073; and WHEREAS, several issues have been encountered after the project start of construction that resulted in three Contract Change Orders (CCOs); and WHEREAS, additional extra work were authorized pursuant to Salinas Municipal Code Section 12-03.08. – Emergency Purchases, “In the case of emergency affecting the public's health and safety, the Purchasing Agent and City Manager are authorized to purchase supplies, materials, equipment, or contractual services required for such emergency, without regard to amount limitation or prior approval of the City Council”; and WHEREAS, extra work was authorized to avoid potential health and safety hazards and potential liability for the City if immediate action was not taken; and WHEREAS, Sierra Construction was selected based on their immediate availability and expertise, and current contract with the City, and the necessary repair work was beyond the capabilities of City staff.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Salinas City Council approves a transfers of $217,100 from Sewer Fund (Fund 6400) to the CIP No. 9010 (Sanitary Sewer Spot Repair and Improvements) is hereby approved; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Salinas City Council approves an increase to the project contingency in the amount of $217,100 for a total project contingency of $719,926 (21.48%) for the Sanitary Sewer Spot Repair and Improvements; CIP 9010.
