RESOLUTION NO. (N.C.S.)
A RESOLUTION APPROVING AN INCREASE IN THE CONSTRUCTION CONTINGENCIES FOR THE SHERWOOD RECREATION CENTER BUILDING IMPROVEMENT, CIP 9535 WHEREAS, the City of Salinas (City) receives and administers United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) entitlement Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds for addressing identified needs in the 2020-2024 Consolidated Plan that identified the Sherwood Recreation Center as a priority project; and WHEREAS, on January 30, 2025, City staff submitted the Request for Release of Funds and Certification to HUD and on March 7, 2025, the City received the Authority to Use Grant Funds from HUD which then allowed City staff to issue the project bid on June 4, 2025; and WHEREAS, On December 9, 2025, City Council, pursuant to Resolution No. 23382, awarded a contract to Precision Construction Services for the Sherwood Recreation Center Building Improvement, CIP 9535, in the amount of $2,230,401 and approved a construction contingency amount of $450,000; and WHEREAS, On June 2, 2026, City Council, pursuant to Resolution No. 2026-093, authorized an increase of construction contingencies of $200,000; and WHEREAS, On June 30, 2026, City Council, pursuant to Resolution No. 2026-133, authorized an increase of construction contingencies of $60,000; and WHEREAS, Approximately $18,000 of the $710,000 approved contingencies remain; and WHEREAS, Pending change orders include the installation of new time clock, additional wiring and new transformer for the new exhaust fan, replacement of the clerestory windows and minor unforeseen change orders that may come up at the punch walk.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Salinas City Council approves a $40,000 increase in the construction contingencies for a revised construction contingency not to exceed $750,000 for the Sherwood Recreation Center Building Improvement (CIP 9535); and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council approves appropriating $40,000 from Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) funds to CIP 9535.
