RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO THE AGREEMENT FOR PROFESSIONAL SERVICES WITH BKF (FORMERLY MNS ENGINEERS, INC) WHEREAS, on May 7, 2024, the Council authorized an Agreement for Professional Services with MNS Engineers, Inc. (MNS) for construction management services of the Boronda Road Congestion Relief Project-Phase 1 in an amount not to exceed $1,829,248; and WHEREAS, on March 31, 2026 BKF Engineers and MNS Engineers merged to become BKF; and WHEREAS, the project encountered a 114-day suspension due to a delayed start and weather conditions, along with a 43-day extension via multiple change orders and 37 additional non-working days; and WHEREAS, although originally scheduled for a 13-month construction window, the disruptions extended the estimated construction timeline to 19 months for substantial completion; and WHEREAS, BKF is requesting a contract increase to cover the extra costs of this extended schedule.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Salinas City Council authorizes the City Manager to execute Amendment No. 1 to the Agreement for Professional Services with BKF (formerly MNS Engineers Inc) for construction management services of the Boronda Road Congestion Relief Project-Phase 1 to increase the total compensation amount by $306,900 for a maximum compensation amount not to exceed $2,136,148.
