Recreation Director Mauk presented the staff report.

Burke asked about the budget for the event. Mauk stated the Town was trying to formalize the event this year. Burke asked about the event sponsor and why aren't they paying for the whole event. Mauk stated the event is 64 bands so the amount donated will not cover that many bands.

Laurie Berliner, Staysea Coulteax, Colleen, business owners, spoke against the 4:30 pm closures because it affected business.

Marc Quinones and Frank Gomez, business owners, and Benedetto Cico, Chamber of Commerce, spoke in support of the event.

There was a Council consensus for a soft closing at 5:30 pm (hard closing at 6:00pm) and wanted to see Police enforcement during the closings. Burke felt the event did not have to happen 64 times and only supported as many of these events as are sponsored.

Burdo and Colbert supported the staff recommendation. Burdo wanted to revisit the item next year to organize with the Chamber of Commerce and discuss the budget in that case.
